PS² Graduate Awardee 2024/25

Moira Roulston

We're delighted to announce that we have awarded Moira Roulston the 2024/25 PS² Graduate Award. Moira will receive a studio at PS² rent-free for one year, culminating in a presentation in our Project Space from 3-28 June 2025.

Moira Roulston is a County Down-based interdisciplinary artist working with lens-based media and performance. Themes within her practice are cultivated by the generational experiences of grief, and introspection. Not attempting to change the environment in which she works, Roulston mindfully experiences and appriciates it. Using modes of interaction, questions arise about the purpose and anthropological history of stone tombs.

Aiming to narrow the distances between humanity, spiritualism, science, and nature Roulston utilizes the landscape of local stone monuments (tombs), Irish literature, spoken history, archaeological studies, and familial tradition. Stone monuments symbolise and encapsulate the inception of themes which have diverged and diversified over millennia.

Roulston hopes to encourage people to engage with nature as a means of healing. Nature can heal us; we should reciprocate. Humanity should strive to live mutualistically and not parasitically with our environment.

The PS² Graduate Award is an initiative funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland that supports creative and professional development for graduating artists based in Northern Ireland, and fosters long-term relationships and collaborations between emerging artists and arts organisations.
