Aiden Brady
Aiden Brady is a new media artist and writer working across sound, video and installation. His work often deals with place, digital aesthetics and the self. Earlier this year, we worked with Aiden on our Ideal Development Opportunityproject, during which he engaged with community members in the Botanic area and explored sonic relationships to urban space.
With this new work at PeasPark, Aiden hopes to prompt onlookers to identify and consider the sounds they hear at PeasPark. Whether engines, birds, machinery or voices, the sounds of our cities are important indications of what is present in such spaces. Rather than pleasant mindfulness, Aiden wishes to encourage a listening which burrows into the contested, cacophonous and conflicting sounds present in our cities. In doing so, we might learn something of ourselves, of power and of the social mechanisms which enable such sounds to be present.
Ideal Development Opportunity was funded by Belfast City Council's Arts & Heritage Small Grants scheme. PeasPark is funded by Necessity.
