NOT SQUARES
Ends 21 November 2009
noT SquAreS were born out of intensive improvisation in 2008 and have evolved through an organic process of producing music that makes dance an ideology. Over the last year Not Squares have carved themselves a name as an exciting live act touring throughout the UK and Ireland. Having a BBC Radio 1 Introducing Maida Vale session under their belts and with the recent release of their debut single in July with Dublin-based Richter Collective, they aim to produce an ambitious debut album to be out in Spring 2010. Forthcoming single ‘Asylum’ is to be released in November 2009.
Performance
"Not Squares are currently getting local music critics' collective undercrackers in a bunch and from a quick listen to thrash-dance anthem 'Vita Sackville-West' it's easy to see why this Julie Ruin-worshipping mob are making all the right moves." NME
"Not Squares burn the neon embers of pseudo-dance-pop, merrily screeching and shouting, all blurred jutting limps and sinister smiles, as the flames burn higher and brighter."
Souls on Tape
“In all, an inspiring set that displays creativity and ability rarely found on these shores, and even at this early stage shows promise of a truly exciting record.”
