Traveling the Road (Great Oyster) 2024

​Travelling the Road is the title taken from the unpublished biography of Belfast born film director Brian Desmond Hurst (1895-1986), this ongoing body of work is a portrait exploring through a queer lens the life and times of Belfast’s most prolific film director from their east Belfast roots to his life and career in Hollywood to his death in London's Belgravia.

This public intervention in PS2's Peas Park, are images taken during a recent trip to New York where Brian spent some time as an art director. The images are taken from the ferry that rides down the Hudson River passing Liberty Island to Ellis Island, the infamous port that saw more than twelve million immigrants pass into America.
