Weeds

Peter Surginor

Ends 04 May 2011

This large scale installation of strange mutated weeds and body parts made from ceramics are like a new Frankenstein experiment gone beautiful.

Peter Surginor mixes forms of the botanical world and the human anatomy, depicts them in monochrome etchings and assembles the organic shapes, glazed and burnt, into new beings. Gothic art and craft in one, crossing the boundaries from real to surreal. No wonder he wants a public reading of Joris-Karl Huysmans novel ‘Against Nature’, where the protagonist creates a garden of poisonous flowers.
